Glam Up Your Beauty Routine This Holiday Season
Shimmering makeup is the beauty trend du jour, appearing on runways, in magazines and acclaimed television shows, such as HBO’s Euphoria featuring trendsetter Zendaya. Ahead of our Holiday Glow workshop, we’ve partnered with Aj Woodworth, owner of The Glamoury, to help you achieve a perfect amount of holiday sparkle.
Begin with a Base
Think of a simple eye with fresh skin. To do it yourself, curl your lashes before applying mascara. Comb your brows and secure them in place with a gel. Apply a warm-toned blush to the apples of your cheeks and finish with a highlight on your cheekbones.
Prep Your Lips
What’s the secret to a bold lip that lasts all night? Exfoliate, moisturize and never forget your lip liner. I personally love the Sara Happ Lip Scrub, but there are so many great ones to discover ahead of your holiday party.
Know the Trends
Glamourous matte red lips and smoky neutral eyes are always in style. But this season, you can also try playing with glittery pigments on your lips or dazzling gems on the inner corners of your eye. As for your skin, dewy is here to stay.
Explore Hair Accessories
Clips and barrettes made a big comeback at this year’s New York Fashion Week. To achieve this glamourous look, give yourself a deep side part and smooth it out with hairspray. Pop the clip just behind your ear and voilà; you’re instantly party-ready.
Don’t be Shy with Glitter
For a shimmering eye, pop a little glitter on your index finger and blend in the centre of your eyelid. For a sparkling lip, mix a small amount into your lip gloss. The trick here is to make sure the glitter is supple and lightweight. I’m a fan of Make Up For Ever glitters, but again there are so many to explore.
Liberate Your Lashes
We know you’ve been eager to test that daring lash, and there’s no better time than a holiday event. First, you’ll need to make sure your false eyelashes fit. Try them on and make note of their length. With a small pair of scissors, trim as needed. If you struggle with the application process, try cutting a strip of lash in half and applying it to the ends of the eye only.
